Jordan McGill - Music Therapy Intern

Jordan McGill

Music Therapy Intern - Biola University

Jordan’s love for music therapy stems from a lifelong involvement in the creative arts and a deep awareness of how music connects people. After picking up her first guitar in middle school, Jordan found joy in creating and sharing music, later volunteering with her church’s worship team her junior year in high school. Jordan spent a majority of her life growing up in the Sierra Nevadas in Northern California and moved to Orange County in 2017 where she discovered music therapy and continued her schooling.

After earning her Associates Degree in Arts and Human Expression at Fullerton College, Jordan transferred to Biola University where she was one of the first students in the new Music Therapy program. In her time at Biola, Jordan built meaningful connections with her music therapy classmates and within her practicum placements where she experienced over 180 hours of fieldwork which included: toddlers, individuals who are neurodivergent, and elderly with dementia and alzheimers. Jordan had the honor of being the first vice president of the BMTA (Biola Music Therapy Association).

Jordan has seen how music builds bridges, invites others into new perspectives, and creates spaces for understanding and expression. Additionally, she believes that music is an inherent part of being human and she is committed to facilitating a therapeutic and empowering space that further builds those connections. These experiences continue to shape Jordan’s passion for music therapy and the powerful sense of connection it brings. She is honored and excited to continue her music therapy journey at Mewsic Moves as she completes her fieldwork.
