FAMILY THERAPY WITH JOHN MEWS, LMFT, NMT

Raising a child with neurodiverse needs can be very stressful. It can lead to challenges that impact the entire family such as breakdown in communication, financial stressors, emotional and mental health decline, physical symptoms, sibling rivalry and marital discourse to name a few.

Parents/Guardians?

  • Is your marriage in danger?

  • Are you exhausted?

  • Are you fighting about finances?

  • Did your communication break down?

  • Have you gone through the grieving process?

  • Have you accepted your child for who they are not who they “should be”?

Siblings?

  • Are you struggling to connect with your sibling?

  • Are you craving attention from your parents?

  • Do you feel alone in your family?

  • Do you feel invisible in your family?

  • Are you holding onto anger and resentment for having a sibling with special needs?

  • Are you being bullied at school or on social media due to having a sibling with special needs?

You are not alone. These are all typical and normal responses in families of neurodiverse children, I’m here to ensure the whole family has support to work through them.

You may often feel like you can’t invest in your own wellbeing as your time and funds are usually reserved for supporting your child. This is not sustainable and will inevitably lead to burn out.

We also host FREE music nights and support for parents of neurodiverse family members. We believe that it is important for parents to take time for themselves and support one another. We facilitate these nights in each of our 3 locations and utilize drumming as a medium to work on our overall mental health and to connect with other similiar families.
